This has been over my place a lot tonight. Haven't seen it for awhile and it's nice to have it back. There is a designated training area for refueling around our place in the Willamette Valley.
if i remember correctly, this is impressive because the tanker's stall speed is about half a knot above the helicopter's max speed
Not realy that close, the MH-47 is probably the fastest in the US Army with a max speed of about 190+/- mph. The only Army unit capable of aerial refueling is the 160th SOAR. What is really impressive is the those guys do it at night. NSDQ
Stall speed for the 130 is around 100 knots, so no problem.
I sent a copy of that to a friend who is on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He said that is special ops CH 47 out here practicing. They are the only 47s I know of with refueling capability.
