Braving the heat

I've been trying to push myself to go out and shoot--trying to lose the 20 pounds I gained during the lockdown. I spent an hour at the Bloomington Ferry Trail Bridge. I am shooting with a d3500 and 50mm 1.8.
Sadly, when I loaded all of my shots into Raw Therapee, all but one had pretty bad camera shake. I just can't hold the camera steady enough, even at 50mm, to drop below 1/200.

But anyway, I ended up with this shot and have been experimenting with different crops.

I have tremors which makes things difficult. I almost never shoot at ISO less than 400 and shutter less than 1/500. With any kind of decent like I prefer 1/1000. Just a suggestion

Nice shot.
Keep up the good work and donโ€™t let tremors get you down. I also deal with them and find a tripod and remote release the best solution. I also use higher ISO and shutter speeds to shoot hand held. Donโ€™t give up, keep on shooting and enjoy the results.

My personal handheld minimum speed is 1/250. I just know I can't hold a camera steady enough at speeds lower than that, especially with a tele lens. Find your minimum speed and adjust ISO and aperture to get the best results. It may not be perfect but you'll be close. Option #2 and #3 is to get a tripod or, rest the camera on a sturdy structure.

I should have bought a tripod a while ago--I gave my old one to a friend when it seemed that I'd never come up with the funds to replace my d7100.
My new Tokina 11-16 should be coming next week so I'm spent out for a little while but the tripod will be my next purchase.
