Was attempting to use negative space to draw attention to the isolation and harsh conditions that these trees endure to survive. While the blooming "Indian paintbrush" flowers in the foreground shows that spring has arrived in the Rockies.

Very nice. I think you achieved your goal.

While I like your photograph very much I would like to have that same scene with a wide angle lens, laying on my belly up close to one of the Indian paintbrush flowers to hopefully get the flower but with those same desolate trees in the background. Just a thought and meaning nothing against your excellent photo work.

I really like the use of negative space to make a statement, and yours is a fine example. Might I suggest trying a crop of the foreground just a bit to increase the negative space of the sky? IMHO, that might add a bit more impact to the trees. Just a thought...
