Amazon.com is selling through a 3rd party a 77mm Variable ND filter that goes from ND2 to ND4900 -- for 10 BUCKS! It's well made and finished and is 'thin' for WA use. I need a step up ring (BTW, Amazon sells a set of them -- thin, metal -- from 49mm to 82mm for 8 bucks.) It does not vignette even at 18mm focal length. This is an especially useful filter for me; I use NDs to blur backgrounds, give that silky ethereal to moving water, and to tone down snow/desert/ocean scenes. This does all that in one filter, exactly to the degree you need, instead of buying and carrying around a set and changing them back and forth

Maybe should check that old saying: If it sounds too good to be true then maybe it is. I just ordered 1 B+W polarizing filter from B & H for $126 and 1 step up ring from Adorama for $9.

Probably why the OP did not include the link and is in hiding!

What is an OP and who do you imagine is in hiding? Look guys: by my standards, the filter works wonderfully well.
If you don't want one that's fine by me.

An OP is the Original Poster of a given thread. You should understand, ramram, many on the forum have seen various scams in regards to internet purchases, and have become suspicious. You may follow a similar path OR (preferable) your experiences will be good and life will be beautiful!
Thanks for hooking up on UHH, good to have you aboard!

Very often people sell things on Amazon just to get rid of them. I have seen books, CDs, and DVDs being offered for one cent, plus a few dollars for shipping.

I haven't looked for this filter, so I don't know what the deal is.

EDITED. Here's the link. No mystery. Neewer.

To add to Danilo's comment, when filling out your profile information you were given a chance to state where you are and you chose to leave it blank which then shows up for the rest of us to see as 'in hiding.' Perhaps you would want to revisit your profile and indicate where you are so you don't appear to want to be 'in hiding.'

I have a very nicely arranged 'sucker/scam' pile of photographic wonders and other things and I have maybe just reserved a copy of this filter to add to it. It is however stated that it is variable from nd2 to nd400 rather than nd4900 so it instantly becomes slightly more believable and I'll always drop $20 on the next great wonder of the universe just so I have a personal answer to 'the question' - 'you don't say - do it really???'

At the bottom of my sucker/scam pile is the original Charles Atlas muscle building course. Then, next, is a pair of those glasses that will see through clothes. Then, there's that $2.99 10,000 power telescope that lets me see some of them aliens in the Orion galaxy. There may just be enough room left for one of these 'Sensational bargains.' We'll know next week 'cause I got me one of them 82mm ones on the way here and as soon as it arrives and at the risk of depriving all the youngsters on uhh of the pleasure and excitement of ordering off the back of a comic book, I'll be happy to share what I know about it with everyone.

Thank you for the note and welcome. I have 99% not just good but excellent internet purchases. I guess maybe I'm lucky, but I think it's more that a) I do my homework before buying, and b) because the vast majority of my buys are from Amazon (which I consider the most innovative, reliable, and customer-centric retailer since the original Sears-Roebuck) and the Hasidic gentlemen of B&H and Adorama, who take their religion seriously and live by its codes.

My life is in fact good (or better) and sort of beautiful. It would be almost flawless if my wife hadn't died and left me lonesome. Ah well ... UHH pleasurably fills a bit of my day, and I'm gratefull for it.

Didn't mean to offend but we sometimes do get scammers occasionally. If it works for you, then fantastic.

I don't know about this deal, but there are some crazy good deals out there. Check Overstock.com. I found they are selling a battery that fits my Nikon D300's along with a charging unit for around 12.00. The nice thing about the charger is that in addition to the 120 volt charger, it comes with a 12 volt adaptor for charging batteries in the car. The battery works fine and lasts about the same as OEM batteries. The charging unit is a bit cheaply made but still works to charge the battery. I bought two at first and felt it was good enough a deal to buy two more. I think you can also get this unit for Canon batteries.

Well, I got the filter in today and played with it a little bit tonight inside in bad light. I cannot be too sure just yet but to me at this point, it looks like critical focus will be compromised with this jewel. I should get to test it outside tomorrow afternoon or Sunday and will report what I find.
