Complete morons. Have no idea how they didn't get severely burned. Stupidity or pure luck?
There is no such thing as luck.
Luck is impossible to prove and easy to disprove... ergo there is no such thing as luck... unless you ask the tooth fairy of course.
You (rhetorically?) ask " how they didn't get severely burned"... and present "Stupidity" as a possibility too... WTF
I put it to you, [b]they would more likely hurt themselves if they were Stupid.[b]
What is patently moronic/stupid however is your premise.
What those boys actually present, (is obviously something your limited faculties fail to
realize) is youthful high jinx and humour.

Funny. I hope they don't try melting lead indoors.
I did for awhile when dad wasn't home and then later in the kitchen in a wood burning stove to cast lead bullets , other than being a little crazy it didn't hurt me

But not on purpose.
Me too, but it was pewter they melted and poured into
a YouTube Award mold they 3D printed.

"Smelting" is the use of heat to extract a metal from ore. What they are doing is simply "melting" what appears to be aluminum in a stainless steel pot.
Thank you!!!
And it takes an electric furnace, it takes a lot more heat to get the job done with aluminum .

It is possible to melt an aluminium pot on an electric stove. Have not tried it on a gas stove.
In my early days I would cast bullets for my black powder replica Navy Colt and for a .38 pistol cartridge. I'd use scrap plumbers lead and mix in old tire weights. Of course I was naive to the dangers of lead off-gassing.

lol yet my first wife did that twice, gas stove don't get hot enough.
I have been told it take more heat to weld aluminum than weld steel.
I do know it takes a lot more heat to smelt bauxite oar than iron ore.

Well it didn't kill us!!!
I was casting for .38 special and .357 Mag. By the time I started shooting front stuffers it was cheaper and easier just to buy the balls.
Yes and then there is the story of young man building a sailboat in his basement and was melting the lead for the ballast . He went to the hospital the next day and they couldn't save him as he died from lead poisoning.
