This Red-tailed hawk was in very difficult back lighting but she gave me two poses that I could not ignore. I changed the backgrounds to colors that I felt were suited to each posture, esp. the second shot which I consider to mother of all "butt shots"!

That orange is kind of intense as posted here. I have been playing with variations of that orange gradient with mixed results. Thanks for the comment Barbara.

I like the idea of petticoats very much. Thanks Carol. These are very noisy and as posted and show evidence of trying to pull detail out of deeply backlighted subjects.
