We have them here but call them Stellar jays. They are indeed beautiful. Nice capture !
My wife said Sterling but now that I think about it I think Stller Jay is what they told me the bird was. Thans. Where do you live?
I mean Steller. Pic taken in Estes Park, CO

A significantly beautiful bird!
we don't have those in NC, but have seen them in CA, where they are referred to as Stellar Jays
This is in fact a "Steller's Jay", found though out the western U.S. I have photographed them in Washington, Oregon and California.
A tell-tell feature on this bird are its "eyebrows".
Got a question for you. I took this picture in Estes Park of what I thought to be a gray squirrel. They are only about half to three quarters the size of the ones we have around our house in Fort Worth. That got me to thinking is this a gray squirrel or some other kind. What is your opinion?

Which one of us are you asking, Huey?

i want to say its called Ground squirrel, but if some one knows for sure- please correct me.
They are smaller than the Midwestern grays that i grew up around.
I had one here off and on,but never got close enough to really look it over. It seemed it was always running thru but never stopped. I'm sorry i can't be of more help to you.
That was my second thought after I began wondering if it was actually a gray. Thanks.
