Morro Bay is famous for the large Rock sitting at the edge of the Bay. The large rock (~576 feet high) is an extinct volcanic plug that formed around 23 million years ago. It is home to much wild life and very picturesque. Below are a number of shots of the rock from different locations at different times of day. All question comments and suggestions are welcome.

This is the forth the series of shots I took in the area while at Morro Bay last week.

The first is of the lunar eclipse

The second is of the junior Falcons feeding

Thanks for the local geology information about Morro Rock and the nice photographs. Try getting some from the other side too. I now live in Grover Beach, CA but I have not been to Morro Bay since the move and I was I few years since my last visit to the area from the L.A. area. Thus far we have been to the Dinosaur Caves area.

Hi lamiaceae
Thanks for viewing the shots of Morro rock and the comment. Below is a telephoto shot from the other side of the rock I took a few years ago on a very hazy day. The contrast was jacked up on this shot to bring to see the rock a bit better, but the haze muted the colors a lot.

Make me want to go back. Best view for me was first view of the rock coming over the foothills from inland🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯

Hi joecichir
Thanks for checking out the images of Morro Rock and for the comment. The flowers on the hills where still in bloom for the shot from highway 46 adding some nice color to the image.
