Fabulous. I always picture the older Benny Goodman when I listen to his music. I read that when Swing, Swing, Swing was recorded, both Benny and Gene Krupa were only 26 years old. Thanks for sharing sharing it, Mark.

Don't listen to it. Listen to the music you enjoy.
There are so many ways, today, to listen to "your" music.

Thanks, Mark! I remember listening to Sing Sing Sing from an old 45 record my dad had. It was from this 1938 concert...still it is one of the best pieces I had have ever heard. I would have loved to have been there when it was played.

I wish there were still big band concerts you could travel too and enjoy. The old music lives forever. The current music is heard and goes away. Most will never be classics.

MARK! You made my day and brought back so many memories. I remember when I was just a little squirt and my Mom took me downtown to Dayton, Ohio. We went to one of the three RKO Movie Theaters to see Benny Goodman and his Orchestra's on stage in person. We stayed in our seat after the concert and watched the second concert also. I found a bunch of Benny Goodman and Glen Miller performances on YouTube. I don't know how many I listened to, but my butt is sore from setting here so long going through videos. I just looked at the time and realized it is 10:32pm. My poor cat is probably starving, so I'll stop for tonight. Thanks again for those 2 links. They really got me out of the dumps after all the Memorial Day video's and time at the cemetery. Thanks Mark.

Mom always had music going when I was growing up. Benny Goodman (her favorite), Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie & Frank Sinatra. So many memories.

Thanks, Walter!! I attended live concerts of James, Miller, Anthony, Dorseys, Elgart ... in Asbury Park, NJ. Also went to NYC for others - Kenton, Basie, ... as well as smaller groups in NYC. Music has and always will be a major part of my life.
