Have you checed the gimp forum, sorry I don't know
CarlA: Why would you think that these open source people would make that available for no cost? That's right, because it is open source, socialist, communistic and anti-Adobe etc. and a great bunch of people looking out for each-other!!!!!
Coincidentally, I went to my favorite library (book store) and was reading about it yesterday afternoon as I drank my Earl Gray Lite and ate a Scone and quickly looked over this months selection of photo magazines. Check the following:
http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/Install.htmlThey State the following: "To use the UFRaw Gimp plug-in you need first to install Gimp 2.0 or higher. Gimp 2.4 is recommended. If you only plan to use UFRaw's stand-alone tool, there is no need to install Gimp, but the Gimp Tool Kit (GTK+2) is still needed. There is no need to install DCRaw itself since its code is incorporated into UFRaw."
Gimp was my gateway drug into photoshop. Its free to use and can do many of the same things photoshop can. (Although almost never quite as easily) There are tons of how to videos on youtube. And that's where I got my education to start on. I use photoshop now, and its way better, but for someone starting out, or trying to do something on the cheap, gimp is a great freebie. I never did hdr on gimp, I mostly do photo manipulations, but try googling gimp tutorials. You may find artcles or even videos that walk you step by step on the process. (And usually, like gimp, they are free too)

And if you're using one of them commie pinko operating systems like OpenSuSe, go to Yast and software and check Gimp and ufraw and it will all install for you. DigiKam makes the download from the camera easy. Now just double click on a raw file, ufraw and gimp come up. adjust in ufraw then it exports to gimp. Too cool.
OpenSuSe is among the easiest installs (use a blank drive, don't do it to your only computer). The only time I need to go to a bash prompt for install is if I am using a Dell 1390 (broadcom chipset) WiFi card. After that, hooking something up over WiFi and Bluetooth is only a 30 second vocabulary lesson at the most. They got wireless right around release 10.1 current version is 12.2.
RocketScientist: thank you for the additional information. Being a good (x) Christian and (x) Capitalist (not much left) I have not ventured into the never-never land of Open-source except for a few on-Windows programs. I have been pleased with those. Open-source is a great movement.
I have read that they are reworking the user interface into a single window interface this year. Also they had added options to more than 8 bit processing. I think a version is out already but I haven't downloaded it yet. Google sponsored interns to work on it.
I do, and no it does not.
