I finally decided to buy the Nikon D500, it has been on my list since it first came out, it's a refurb from Nikon with about "0" actuations. I fired off a bunch of shots before I checked shutter count, when I did, It came up with 54. It seems to be a great camera and lighter than my FF cameras. I will upload some shots, hopefully soon.
One of the best camera's I ever owned - Wish I hadn't sold it to buy a mirrorless camera.
Can't go wrong with a 500 especially from Nikon and refurb to boot. You bit at the right time congrats on a great camera

You made a great decision on a refurbished. There is a common misconception about Nikon refurbished. Most think every refurbished undergo some total rechecking and compete diagnosis. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The great majority of refurbished camera's are returned for 100's of reasons, most common is buyers remorse. Many, like yours, have no or very little shutter counts.
If you have ever been in retail for long you understand better than most buyers remorse.
But the good news for those that buy refurbished camera's is that they are, for the majority, getting a camera with no know mechanical of electronic problems. They have been returned for a wide variety of reasons, most of which are not function related.
Again, congratulations on your D500, it is an excellent camera that will give you years and years of reliable service.
You have made a great purchase. My mirrorless bodies are fantastic, but for birding only the D500 will do.

Fantastic camera!
I jumped on the same sale, and bought one as a much needed upgrade to my D5600.

The D500 at 10 fps is an excellent camera for birding. I have used it for years with great results, I mate it with the Nikon 200-500 and 500 5.6 prime.
Mirrorless bodies allow a much higher fps, for example, my Sony a9 does 20 fps and the Sony a1 does 30 fps.
If your serious about birds in flight, the higher the fps, the better chance you have of getting that once in a life time shot.
For example, the following shot was taken just after this male Black Necked Stilt mated, he wrapped his wing around his mate as he dismounted, I had not been shooting 20 fps, this love embrace would not have been captured.
