Interesting. I didn't see ON1 on that list. Hopefully, it doesn't track.

I was also surprised to see Lightroom on the list especially at almost the top. It really doesn't matter anymore. If you have a cellphone it a web browser you are finished. Especially a cell phone. Do an experiment. Talk about something like removing a raccoon from the attic or buying a new outdoor chair close to your cell. If less than 48 hours the ads you see on your phone will be related to what you talked about. I used to try to keep my privacy. I gave up a couple years ago. Can't do it and have a cellphone or surf the net or have email. Oh well.

I think Firefox only collects operational (functional) data. That way they can improve it or fix it.

Duck duck go is the best but I just came to the conclusion that you can't win. Sad but oh so true

DuckDuckGo is much less invasive than Google, but Google does show more stuff.
Maybe because it's so invasive.

Lets throw in a conspiracy theory,
ISPs record stuff and the government is watching anyway...

Yes when I could speak to my wife about raccoon control laying in bed with my phone on the nightstand and got adds for varmit control on my phone when I woke up I gave up. Lol. I'm not saying anyone is out to get us. I am saying if one of the big players wants you you are doomed. Lol. The info is used to Taylor ads to make money. I would much rather see ads I may be interested in than ones I'm not. Point being. We have NO PRIVACY IF WE OWN A CELLPHONE OR A WEB BROWSER. No conspiracy theory.

Restatement of the three laws of thermodynamics:

(1) you can’t win

(2) you can’t break even

(3) you can’t get out of the game.

Lightroom Classic is not an "app" you can obtain from the Apple App store. This critical fact alone casts a thick layer of doubt over the relevance and accuracy of the entire analysis. If you use a mobile LR software to email your edits, yes, the software would need access to your contacts. Search history would be an odd item for any digital image editor to need. Catchall categories of "other data" and "sensitive data" need more specific definitions to judge whether / whether not these apps are accessing more data than they need / should. Without these details, this click bait seems designed to purposefully and unnecessarily disparage several software titles.

I thought "app" was an abbreviation for "application", which is another word for program, like Lr, Excel, Word, Komodo, Firefox, ... .

Is it now restricted to what runs on phones???

Well I guess it still is... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_software

But you're right, you can't get it from Apple Store or Google Play.

Ok if you read the entire article and analyze Lightroom you will see it is true. Try to use it without the internet. Opps won't work. Then read your log files and see what is going up and down. It is very simple to see what is happening. I'm not knocking anything. Just surprised Lightroom is on the band wagon. So what. It can't be beat anyway. You are using a browser and a phone. Game over.

You are correct. App is the name of a program. I was on the internet when it was 13 sites with no color. Green screens only. I remember when they started calling programs apps. Short for application. Don't be fooled by silly words. Bottom line is it doesn't matter. Just a fact that surprised me. It is the least of worries if you choose to worry. Wasted energy. If you really want to know what is happening just save your log files and analyze them
