I have just noted that when using the above lens with the FTZ adapter on the Z6 the VR remains running all the time until the 'standby' timer shuts all off. This is also the case when tested with a 80-400 and FTZ.
When using the above two lenses on a D800 the VR is activated only when the AF-ON/Shutter buttons are pressed and goes off after a short time.
Whilst I have used the 70-200 and FTZ combination a few times previously I had never noticed the VR remaining on all the time and seem to recall that it activated on pressing AF-ON/Shutter. I only noticed this happening due to absolute silence in the location due to a night time curfew.
I do have the latest firmware loaded 3.12 & 1.1
Can anyone confirm how their VR is activating using the FTZ on the Z6?
I first noticed this with the 800mm. Apparently it has something to do with avoiding further delay when the camera comes out of sleep mode. I have gone back to only using Z lenses on Z cameras.

From the searching I've done so far I have not come across the avoiding "further delay" idea yet.
The only Z lens I have at present is the 24-70 and have decided not to invest in any more until such time as a larger mirrorless body with more ergonomically friendly controls is produced by Nikon.
Yes it does, but the question is to do with the lens VR permanently operating when selected to 'active' thus causing both battery drain and wear of the lens components when using the FTZ.

Is there a switch on the lens to shut off the VR. I would think that the 5 axis VR in the camera would be sufficient?
