Supermoon alert: Share your view tonight.
When Earth's shadow begins to cover it, Luna often takes on a reddish tint, leading to the name
"blood moon" for those rare times when a lunar eclipse aligns with a full moon.
“Rare times” ?!?!?!?!!?
Isn’t it amazing that a photographer, who actually mentions the basic idea of the shadow of the earth falling upon the moon, fails to find it hugely obvious that a lunar eclipse must involve a full moon ?
Acoarst we have Hogsters who will paste a full moon into the sky to improve (?) a sunset scene ... their excuse is “I’m an artist, not an astrologer [sic].”
Who would ever think an artist (?) should be aware of light and shadow ? Didn’t we leave that nonsense behind way back with Rembrandt and Van Gough ? [sic].
You can share, you can teach, you can explain, but stupid is a very stubborn stain. Just pearls before swine :-(

Heh, you sure have ...issues.
The poster didn't say anything weird or out of turn.
Lunar eclipses are fairly rare...two a year...and many areas of the globe won't see it....so it is ...rare.

That is actually interesting looking. Looks like Mars from some unknown location. Like some shot for a sci fi film.

My moon eclipsed many years ago, it had no name..... Then, the cow jumped over it.
Cloudy skies last night in Anacortes, WA. Thanks for the photos.

Wow, very beautiful, I wasn't as fortunate with the clouds.
That is a beautiful photograph. May I show it to my readers on Sunday when I have my usual Picture Parade on my blog?

A light haze fell over the moon just before the peak eclipse this morning.
A lunar eclipse can ONLY happen at Full Moon.
Luckily for me, the sky was crystal clear here in Northern CA.
