Attach a chain to the bottom of the camera via tripod mount socket (you can get tripod screw with ring fairly cheaply), and the other end of the chain to your pants belt in some manner. If pickpockets try to steal your camera, they will need to steal you along with it.

The camera is replaceable but not you. Make sure you check with your daughter.

As in any Major or unfamiliar city, practice situational awareness. I would, as already suggested, tape over the logo and use a a discreet or security strap (with steel cord imbedded) worn cross body instead of over the shoulder. I always carry money, credit cards and a copy of my passport in a belt pouch under my shirt

Great advice, I use gaffers tape on the camera. Like I posted before it’s. “p” model with stealth flat black paint and no logos or red dots to advertise to the world what your packaging. I like your idea in the strap
Thanks

Put a little bit of Insulating tape over the branding. It'll be sharp eyes that notice the lens wording, not the opportune bag snatcher.

I spent almost a month in Paris a few years ago, and prepared for walking around and taking my equipment with me. I brought a Canon 5DIII, a back up 7DII, a Canon flash, 2 L lenses, tripod and some backup hard drives. I left the 7DII in my AirBnB and carried most everything else in a PacSafe backpack. I used an OpTech sling strap with a cable woven in the strap and had a whistle on a retractable key ring attached to my pack strap. I spent 10+ days on my own traveling by metro and on foot throughout Paris, before joining up with my wife when she parted with her girlfriend on their trip. We also did a week in the middle via train to a friend's village outside of Toulouse.

All that time, I was conscious and aware what and how I carried my stuff and never had a problem shooting or enjoying the trip. I could never contemplate not bringing my camera to fear of losing it. I kept track of the weight I was packing, because at 68, it's tempting to want to take it easy and shoot with a phone camera. There are thieves and such anywhere you may visit, not just Paris. Probably the worst I experienced was during a 6 week trip to China. Makes Paris an Amish community by comparison.

Take what you want, be aware of your situation and have fun.

Unfortunately, Paris has is rife with pickpockets, bag snatchers, and muggins.
It is unfortunate, but still worth going.
At age 67 I would have a problem keeping up with a kid that grabs my camera bag.
My daughter who is travelling with me says the reason to have a camera is to take pictures. I can’t disagree with that.
I would appreciate any opinion from the form Thank you in advance

Check and see if perhaps you can get (or have) coverage for the camera on your homeowner policy. A well constructed Fanny Pack turned to the front is also a carry option. Have a great time.

Get a strap that cannot be easily cut with a knife, and keep it across your chest, over one shoulder and under the other arm. I doubt you will have problems but no point in taking chances.

Instead of a tripod, use a monopod that can also serve as a walking stick. Less obvious , and potentially a weapon (or at least make you a less tempting target).

Your daughter is right, and it’s also why you have insurance. Have probably been to Paris more than 50 times, and I like to walk about with my camera, have never had an issue. You’ve lived there, presumably speak French, you should be fine. Its hard to grab a camera on an extended tripod and run! I have not been since Covid, expect the streets will be emptier. Enjoy

I always just take my pocket camera and put it in a belt pouch. I too am very aware of the pickpockets, and camera's on a shoulder strap snatchers. Yes, they are unfortunately prevalent through out Europe and are on the rise since Europe had to open their borders. Folks have to live, unfortunately they chose a life of chime to survive.
Folks who do not believe this simply do not travel.
So, back to my point, I carry a Sony HX99 pocket camera in a belt pouch. You should too.

Take your daughters advice take your camera. Get insurance for it. If it does get snatched and stolen grab a bridge camera while you're there and finish taking photos. Then put a clean dent on the camera.

I had some friends that went over there and had some stuff snatched as you say it does happen quite often but I wouldn't worry about it I'd go about life.

Attach a Pentax strap to your Leica...
You won't be bothered.
