I have a windows 10 laptop that isn't showing my ON1 program anywhere in the default choices menus. can someone aid me in solving this dilemma? On1 doesn't show up in "Open With", "Default Apps", "Choose an App by file type", "Set Defaults by APP", and "Choose Default APP by Protocol". I can see ON1 on other computers but for some reason it doesn't show up on the laptop. The app launches and runs fine on the laptop. There is probably a setting somewhere I am missing,
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Go to Control Panel. Choose Default Programs. Choose Associate a File Type or protocol with a program. Scroll down and select Choose default app by file type. Scroll down until you see the file type you want to associate such as jpg etc and then select the program you want it associated with. When you have finished with your selections close everything and when you double click on one of the file types you changed, it should open the associated app.

I tried that but it still doesn’t show up to select it. Under photo viewer, choose an app it ON1 doesn’t show up to be selected.

If you scroll down on the Settings / Default Apps window captured above, what happens if you select "Choose default apps by file type", located further down on the screen. If you select a file type like JPEG, is your ON1 software in the selection list?

Or, if you choose instead "Set Defaults by App", can you select the applicable image files types?

If On1 isn't an option on these other two approaches, it would seem ON1 is not properly installed, and that would be the issue to explore next.

Isn't there a search function in the choose a default program menu that will allow you to search both the hard drive and web for an app that's not listed to open a file type?

Also, have you tried removing and reinstalling ON1? The original installation likely did not make the necessary changes to the registry.

The choice for search is only to the Microsoft store which doesn't have anything.

I will try removing and reinstalling ON1 as a last resort after hearing from everyone here.

Others have offered the best alternatives. Here is a down and dirty way to achieve something that might satisfy. Use File Manager to look at the Program and/or Program (x86) in the Windows Folder. Find the executable for the program you want to use. You can do two things after you know where it is. 1) go back to preferred or default programs and select the option to browse to find another program. Then browse to the file you just found and select it. 2) make a desktop shortcut of the executable file. Drag photos you want to work on and drop on the book mark.

Did you try clicking the start button and typing "On1"?

I have OIN1 and the only way I can set ON1 as the default for JEPG is by using your first suggestion. " Choose default app by file type ". That is the only way that ON1 is an option for me.

When you click on ON1 in the Apps and features list, is there an "Advanced Options" option or only an "Uninstall" and/or "Modify" option? Some programs have a "Repair" option under "Advanced Options."

I have tried that but when looking at the list of apps available, ON1 is not on the list.

This only allows me to select Modify or uninstall
