An Owl Dropped In

My neighbor called this morning to tell me that they had an owl sitting in their back yard. I grabbed my camera and hurried over. What I found was a fledgling that had somehow dropped out of a nearby tree and seemed too tired to get back to its nest. I did the gentlemanly thing: I took a few photos and left.

Thank you who have taken the time to look and comment. Truth be told, however, I'm not a "birder," so I'm only so-so on the shot. When I shot it, I was working with my walkaround lens, not with a telephoto, so I had to hope I'd come out with the shot I really wanted. This image is the one I wanted:

Beautiful! Reminds me of the one that dropped down in my pepper patch.

We’re not sure, but we don’t think so.

It’s not my property, so I don’t have a say in the matter. I’ve encouraged the property owners to call a local bird rescue agency, and they did call. At this point all I can do is back off and hope.
