Hello
I recently switched from an epson P800 to P900
With the P800 I printed very little Matte, partially because it used a single print head channel for both and wasted ink when switching. I’ll probably still not print a lot of matte.
The question is, since there may be extended times between matte prints, is there a threat of the matte channel clogging?
Is there something I should be doing to keep it clear, or is some maybe used during normal printing?
It would be a waste to run a regular clean and waste the other inks.
Thanks

There is only One Black Printhead. The reason so much ink is used when switching Matt to Glossy is all of the matt ink must be pumped out of the head and supply tube to be replaced with glossy ink.
Hope this helps.

With the P900 there are 2 black channels and the ink is not swapped like the P800.
It’s one of their big selling points.
Check your manual to see if the printer clears the heads on start up or shut down.

I am sorry for being incorrect about this printer actually having two Black Ink print heads.
The way to make sure that the Matte Black and the Gloss Black print heads do not plug up would be to do a print with each of the black inks at least every week. It would not need to be a large print, 3" x 5" is what I use on each of my Epson color printers every week.
Again sorry for my error.
