My wife spent over $200.00 at Adorama and a reflector that they had on sale. They said that she would have to come back to pick it up which is over an hours drive or they could ship it at a cost of $8.95. We decided not to use Adorama anymore if this is how they treat their customers. B&H's customer service is superior,

What is the matter? The $8.95 shipping charge?

Yes, when you spend over $200. They normally have free shipping on orders over $50.00. It's not her fault that they do not haver the item in stock in their store. Most retailers would waive the charges for the order.

As a business owner I would not there are overheads and it is that sort of waiving charges that is putting smaller companies who can not afford to out of business.

I had a small business and I would have absorbed the $8.95 as a matter of goodwill instead of turning off a customer.

If the $8.95 upsets you, then buy it from B & H.

I think we expect too much these days people aren't happy unless they get next day free delivery, I would rather pay more for good after sales service, and in fact I would not use cheap box shifters I would support local camera shops and go and get it :) :) no matter the distance, but again so many have closed (NOT aimed at you) because of greed and people using them to look at, try and test goods then buy from someone $10 cheaper :( :( :(

Last year I did a 200 mile round trip for something, considered it a day out

we were not asking for 1 day delivery, but thought they should eat the cost as we purchased over $200.00 of equipment and thought they should send it to us. It would have been okay if it went regular delivery, 4-6 days.

I think we expect too much these days people aren'... (show quote)

I did that last month in order to buy a camera from a small shop in another state. That camera has been back ordered on all the major online stores. Total drive time was 8 hours. 15 minutes tops spent in the shop to pick up my camera that they had set aside waiting for me to pick it up. There are no camera shops in my state.

Luckily in NY we have a number of stores to choose from and Adorama will not be one of the stores

I think Adorama doesn't have Payboo and I guess you live in NY so you would have to pay $8 for tax on top of the shipping. Wow....
