It's truly sad when you think about it because those falling for it are the people least equipped to deal with the loss of $250. There are nearly four billion people with access to the internet, so let's guess that half of those have email. One one-hundredths percent of 1.39 billion is 139,000. What kind of response do they get? Is it as good as that or better/worse?? I don't think they're doing it for the entertainment value. The other side of the coin is the people doing it are probably being manipulated by those above them in the pecking order. Big numbers are scary and so are the things people will do for money. My 2¢

I keep getting emails from servers in Bulgaria and Romania that my Norton has expired.

The scammers don’t want to deal with intelligent people- takes too much time and effort. These solicitations are written poorly deliberately so that ONLY the most gullible respond.

On a slightly different note, we keep getting a phone call from a woman who tells us our extended car warranty is nearly over. We purchased a new Honda Fit well over 5 years ago! I don’t listen to the call because the phone is put down practically instantly!

I recently got a new home portable phone system, Panasonic, which includes a call block feature. Just press a button on the handset and the caller is blocked. Some emails have this feature as well. Blocking spam addresses.
I must admit, this one is pretty bad though.

Yep, but one has to get the call/email once to put them on the blacklist.
And doesn't one have to have caller ID for the phone block to work?
Just make sure what number(s) you block aren't spoofed to known friends.
