Shot a late evening soccer game tonight. Much faster this
go around as it was on turf. By the end of the game it was
dark out and only lit by the stadium lights so I switched over
to the 70-200 f2.8 from the 150-600mm. Worked great
even with some higher iso's at the end.

Nikon D500 with Tamron G2's. Auto ISO limited to
6400 max, single point focus continuous. Used the
monopod on the big lens.

Nice work considering the lighting conditions. Very tough to shoot in low light and pushing the iso.

Try Group Area Focus, you'll have more forgiveness and lock on easier at low aperture better. I love the last shot. Tells a great story and the goalie expression that she was totally fooled. Was it a penalty kick?

I will give Group a shot next time. I've tried it in other scenarios but haven't determined
the times when it works to my advantage. The ball went just over her head and
out of reach, she jumped for it but missed. She's just landed in the photo, and hoping
it went over the bar but it didn't.
