I saw a glowing review of this printer in PC Magazine Reviews & would like to know if anyone can commentabt cost & rendition quality of Epson's Standard Claria 312 & their HD inks.

The color accuracy & dependability of the PRN seem to be top, & I want to have better control than drugstore photo machines offer & to be able to print fm home - samples 4x6" & frameable 8x10"s & larger as needed.

I would like to know what to expect vis-a-vis the Epson Claria inks that are supposed to work so well w/this PRN regarding long term cost & quality of prints using the Standard Claria 312 ink & the HD…

Thanks in advance!

Can't say for that model but, Epson (and Canon) makes a good printer. If you want quality get a good printer and use the manufacture's ink. The program they have is designed to use the exact colors for that printer. I will bet the off brands don't exactly match each manufactures Red, Green etc.
I believe the the print is the culmination of all your work and should not be compromised at that point.

Precision Color https://www.precisioncolors.com/index.html has a refill solution for this printer.
I have used Precision Color on my Epson P600 since new with out any problems and the ink is extremely close to OEM you will save a boatload of money vs Epson cartridges.

Have had my XP-15000 Expression for a while now and it has performed beautifully. I've got quite a few borderless 13"x19" prints on my walls. I highly recommend it, if you can find one. It is my experience having owned a pigment based ink Epson printer that the dye based Claria inks are less prone to clogging nozzles than encapsulated pigment based inks. My printer can sit for a couple of weeks at a time and fire right up without cleaning, which wastes lots of ink. The Claria inks are supposedly archival, but I won't live long enough to find out. As far as ink cost goes, I just buy directly from Epson online so you can check prices on their website, but I have not done a cost analysis per print. The cartridge size is large enough so I am not changing them out too often.

Before you do ANYTHING, look at their new wide format PHOTO supertank printer:

https://epson.com/For-Work/Printers/Inkjet/-EcoTank-Photo-ET-8550-All-in-One-Wide-format-Supertank-Printer/p/C11CJ21201

6-color Claria® ET Premium Ink bulk ink system built-in. This is their lowest cost Claria Photo ink option, but with the most advanced version of the same Claria ink set they have used for many years.

YES, you pay more up front, but the low cost of ink will more than make up for the front-end price of the printer.

This printer is basically an EcoTank version of the XL 15000.

Epson number 312 - eleven dollars for single color - thirty three for triple color

burkphoto,

Thanks! It doesn't seem to be in stock at Adorama, & only on pre-order from B&H.

Of course, I will call Epson to get the details…

Thanks, tramsey, but I knew prices, & I explicitly asked for input on standard (312) vs HD inks in the last line...

Thanks for all
the replies.

Follow up question: how many prints &/or how often have you found you need to print to keep the nozzles from clogging - which I understand leads to costly cleaning vis-a-vis the inks…

Thanks in advance!

You will not find a better value or quality than HP printers and their ink program is superb. Try it you might like it! I have used it for years. I get all the ink I can use for one low price per month.

I suggest you look at youtube videos by JToolman. He is a printer guru and can tell you more about printers than you could want to know. He owns about 20 printers. He has an XP 15000 and has posted a number of videos about it.
