I forget the name of these things... they're blue with sometimes yellow... with color variation probably because of inconsistent soil... haven't yet decided if I like them... reminds me of too many mouths all taking at once...

Yes! hydrangea, thank you for that- or, more formally, "Hello-drangea" ... perhaps "Lowdrangea" in some circles...

Certain varieties of Hydrangea can be made to produce pink flowers by raising the soil pH to above 7.0 But it's too late for this year. If you want pink blooms next year test soil pH and add lime until you get the pH above 7.0 and monitor pH and add lime as necessary. But it only works with certain varieties. Nice picture though!

Good information Jimmy, thanks, but I'm too lazy for goofin' with shrubbery. I bought this house last two months ago and things are slowly blooming and identifying themselves... it's a jungle... and some things gotta go...

No, not generally, though I too have been guilty of posting a related photo to another's thread. The "Photo Contests, Challenges, Periodicals" sections are where topics are named and members contribute according to the topic; interpretation of the topic can be rather broad. Regardless, everyone is encouraged to join in.

I have a hydrangea bush that produces pinkish purpleish flowers.

I haven't decided if "hydrangea" is really a plant... or some form of disease- in the jaundice family- given the yellow-ish tendency... there may be a hydrangea vaccine on the horizon... Have you any idea what your soil PH is? I wonder if PH is the only factor in deciding color?
