Focus Stacked Image of Japanese Beetle

This is one of my preserved Japanese Beetles that I staged for a focus stacking session. They are a true leaf eating machine! I find it amazing how they can eat the green of the leaf from around the veins leaving behind what looks like a 'leaf skeleton'.

They are a true pest and their time of year is upon us once again.

Very fine! I saw a dead one while walking the dogs. Jewel like. I managed to resist picking it up and bringing it home for a photo or two. Didn't know we had them out here, first I've seen in a dozen years.
