I won an online auction for an excellent condition used Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED lens. It is a kit lens. Lightweight with a plastic build. It included a mint CP filter, caps, and original soft bag.
I am skeptical about auctioned used lenses, but for $20.00 I took a chance and SCORED.
It arrived Tuesday, I put it on my D850 and went outside at sunset and took this photo with the lens. Pleasantly surprised at the quality. It has a slower focus but has a nice bokeh, and fairly sharp for what it is. One more for the lens collection.
The only 'Bad' Nikon lens I ever had, was the 43~86 Nikkor Zoom. Probably class it as 'Poor' , because of Pin cushion at one end , and Barrel distortion at the other. Otherwise, reasonably Ok.
That particular lens has always had good reviews for a kit lens. Many reviewers praise its image quality quite highly. I got one with my first DSLR (D3300) and still have it though I shoot mainly FX now.

Beautiful photo so I think your bargain lens is a winner.

Good to know. I haven't seen a 43-86 in person. I am looking for an excellent prime wide angle for astrophotography. That will be my next dabbling. I have a 14-24 F/2.8 but I think the prime might be sharper for stars etc.

I have been winning the Nikon stuff and giving it away as random acts of kindness to friends who don't have digital cameras and are interested. I guess its like gambling ... or the thrill of the hunt. Occasionally you win. :)

Speaking of rose.... the rose trees are so full they are about to fall over. And the smell of those roses can be had from about 6 feet away. Very excellent smelling flowers.

Thank you. I have a couple of these sitting on the shelf now. Time to thin the herd. :)
