I was traveling in the blue ridge mountains a couple weeks ago and shot these photos. I would appreciate some views on what works and what doesn't. They were shot with a canon M5 with the 15-45 M lens.
I think they are very good.
The tree in number two looks like it's reaching out to his friends.
Or is a zombie tree.....
We had a place near Gatlinburg for several years; great place for fotobugs !! Finally sold out; the hills got steeper every year. But for you kids, it's great !

I have traveled & hiked the Appalachian trail in this region a lot. I really love this area.
Depending on the temperature & humidity, the time of day, and whether it is cloudy or lots of sunshine, you can get a lot of excessive color cast (often in the blue hue) in these photos especially for objects (like mountains) in the far background. So what I do is selectively mask areas and experiment removing or toning down some of the color cast. This improves the contrast and the clarity of the picture.
I would experiment with toning down some of the blue in your pictures in the far background and possibly bring up some of the browns and greens in the foreground. Try it and if you don't like the result, back out.

All magnificent, but that last one is astonishingly beautifulπππππ
First and last work well. Everything on the slope in the middle one doesn't make a good pic for me. I might copy it down and see what it looks like altering the angle of the dangle.
The first photo Would be better if it was shot with fall colors but other than that , there is nothing wrong with it . The second photo is nicely taken= composition. The 3rd , I would of tried including the top of the tree. Just my opinion.

....
Does that mean that he should make a special trip back or the trip was scheduled at the wrong time of year?
What happens when people are in a place at "the wrong time of year", like during summer vacation?
Kinda hard to get Fall colors then....
Snow? Maybe snow would make it look better too???
Really?
I felt the same way, but that was the actual angle of the tree in relation to the horizon.
