Need advice: About to order Sony NEX-5r

Wondering about which lens to choose- Config I see has 18-55mm lens. My current camera is Sony a-100 with 18-70 zoom and Sigma wide angle 10-20 MM. Have grown fond of the Sigma; I take interior and exterior shots of homes I have listed. the Wide angle pics are really great.
I know I am in Canon-land, but if any of you has advice on what you would pick as an ideal configuration for the NEX-5, please let me know. PS- NEX-7 out of my league!

Oh- I am thinking about ordering the Sony A-Mount Lens to NEX Camera Mount Adapter , in the hopes the Sigma is an A-Mount. Will it work?

I have the NEX 7 and found it to be fascinating. except for the smaller sensor and no EVF the NEX 5 & 7 are basically the same.
If cost is acceptable get the 18-200 lens. or the cheaper option the 55-200 to complement the Kit lens.

Thank you,BK-Always helpful to hear from a user. Did you order the a-mount adapter, by chance? If yes what lenses do you use?

No, I didn't need the adapter as I don't have any A-mount lenses.
I ordered an adapter for my Nikon 18-200 but too bulky on the NEX 7 so I sold all my Nikon staff and got the new Sony 18-200 (black)

I have Nex 7 and A57 cameras with the EA2 adapter. the adaptor is a high quality bit of kit but not cheap. I have the 16mm, 18-200, and the wide angle lens for the 16mm. These are all good lenses, i love the 16mm. The kit 18-55mm is as good as any kit lens, and well made. With the A57 i have various older lenses + the 35mmf/1.8 which i have used with both cameras with good results. I cannot post at the moment as i am 1/2 way round the world!

Spony makes an adaptor for the NEX so you can use your Alpha lens on it. This adaptor would allow you to use all the functions of the lens (i.e. AF, etc.).

I have both the NEX-5N and the NEX-7. I originally bought the NEX-5 but couldn't live with all the menu drilling and the lack of a viewfinder. I traded in the 5 for a 5N and bought the optional EVF viewfinder. It's the same one that's on the 7 and I haven't taken it off the camera since I bought it. It was kind of pricey but I just can't get used to composing through an LCD. I don't use the 18-55mm that much but truth be told, it's a superior kit lens. (I mainly use the Zeiss 24mm f1.8).

I agree with other posters here. If $$$ is a constraint, keep the 18-55mm & get the 55-210mm zoom. It's a LOT lighter than the original 55-200mm and cheaper to boot.

If you are serious about doing interiors, I would recommend a 19, 20, or 21mm manual lens - like an older Vivitar and get an adapter for whatever mount is on the Viviter. Use this lens in portrait mode and do sweep panoramas - you will be blown away by the incredible detail ( IQ ) obtainable! It's what I use - so this is not some vague opinion !

I've been shooting fashion and video with a pair of Nex-7's. For what it's worth, I use the Zeiss 24 which is a serious piece of glass on that body. I also have the 19mm, 30mm, 50mm, and the 18-200. The highest use is the 18-200 followed by the 24 and the 50. I received the 18 from a client and it shoots sharp and clean!
If you are going to get the adaptor, I would highly recommend the version 2. E-mount to Sony A/Minolta. It's solid and there are some great Sony lenses. I do have the new Zeiss 35 coming too! But I'll even be the first to admit its a completely insane purchase. But... If you like wide the Zeiss 24 cannot be beat with your body!
Just my opinion! Good luck and have fun!

I have been remiss in not thanking you all for your thoughtful and informed comments on my post. I feel much better about the direction I should take. In brief, seems I need to bite the bullet, sell off everything I own, and buy the equipment made for the NEX rather than fool around with bulky adapters. Anyone need a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens ? (sob)
