Oh Mark, you have been deceived - I make mistakes every day. It’s just as I get older, I just learn to forgive myself more readily 😎.
At 84, I'm very forgiving for myself and even more for others. So, you are still my hero!!

Thanks, Bill. Most of us are members of that club.

In January of '69, while on R&R in Hawaii with my wife (My first one. Sort of a starter kit.) I was taking photos with my trusty Yashica Electro 35. After 4 or 5 shots my wife asks "Shouldn't you take off the lens cap?" I have to say though, those pure black photos were perfectly focused!

How could I forget to focus??
I did, 7 times, with attempts of shooting a small family gathering at my home. Everyone wanted me to shoot the group with me (of course in the photo). I set up the tripod, set shutter release for 3 seconds to give me time to place myself in the photo. Each time I reviewed the photo it was terrible. Not once did I figure out that I had not focused by pushing the AEL button. (I set the camera for BBF about 2.5 years ago). DUH! DUH! DUH! So, we have no photo of the group gathering. Might not have another opportunity for years.
Anyone else have DUH! experiences similar to this one.
Life is still fun. I simply smile at myself for all my "DUH" moments.
Stay safe!

A shame there was no photographer in the crowd.

In another thread pertaining to street photography I mentioned I was experimenting with ISO pulled to 50 for shooting in bright sunlight. A little later Bill Burkholder mentioned ND filters. Of course. Duh.
Also
Right after I started using BBF I was out taking pictures and the AF wasn’t working. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Then I remembered BBF, not shutter button halfway. Duh.

I did not mention my cousin had to remind me to do that before the focus scene. DUH!!
It was still a good day!

I recently took a picture I posted here on UHH and someone commented nothing was in focus. A few hours later I looked at my lens and realized it was on manual focus from the last time I used it and I thought I was autofocusing. Yes it was a duh moment but I have had so many of them so I wasn't shocked.

So you admit to being human, heh?
Thanks for your response.

Many years ago I drove up the Pacific Coast Hgwy stopping and getting great shots. When the exposure counter (Canon AE1) approached 38 I new someting was wrong. The film did not catch on the takeup spool. I'll never forget that. Duh...
Last week, I was fortunate to be able to photograph an Eastern Screech Owl peering out of its nest in a tree. I increased my exposure compensation to offset the darkness of the forest. Down the path always, some unusual Warblers offered some great poses against a clear blue sky. Of course, I had neglected to reset the EC, so ALL of the Warbler shots were totally blown out. DUH!
Wedding photo, couple dancing, the focus was set to point-focus, the trees in the background visible between the couple were in perfect focus. Since the lens was open wide because of low light... the couple were not in focus.
Underwater photos while scuba diving with a DSLR and forgetting to remove lens cap. Oh well, I needed extra weight to help my bouyancy, since I also didn’t have enough weights on my dive belt.

NO, I use the regular shutter button designed by all leading camera manufactures.
And at 94 I am still taking pictures with Canon M camera, T6s and M50. Keep the 18 to 55 lens on the M, a Tamron
18 to 400 on the T6s and a Tamron 18 to 270 on the M50. Enjoy taking pictures of flowers and people. Keep enjoying
