Am new to photography, reading and learning at the moment, but appreciate experience counts for a lot, so am looking for some advice on some night shots I want to take, have a cannon 30D, with tripod and remote shutter.
I have included a picture of the type scene I am trying to achieve. Living in Blackpool U/K it would be shame not to attempt some evening shots of what we call the illuminations.
Am very much a novice and would appreciate anybody willing to share their knowledge.

Your photo is right at the edge of my view of being very good. I think the exposure was a little much and the lights overblown. Cut it back a second or three and it would be much more dramatic.

Thanks for info, but the picture was not mine , so don't know what settings were used. Am looking for some info on what settings I would need to use to achieve similar .
