Yosemite Glacier Point History - The Location that Created National Parks

In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt spent 4 days camping in Yosemite Valley with Naturalist and Conservationist John Muir. They rode horses up to Glacier Point and stood on this precipice overlooking the panorama of Yosemite Valley. Muir impressed on the President that lands such as Yosemite should be protected for future generations and removed from exploitation by private industry. They slept on the ground on a bed of pine boughs covered by woolen blankets. What President, since T.R. has done that?

The first image is a 10 frame panorama stitched together in Lightroom and finished in Lumianr AI. The second is of the precipice, same editing. The third image is from an NPR page about John Muir.

As the President would say, "Bully."

Beautiful images. As a matter of personal privilege, I would point out some even earlier history about Teddy Roosevelt, His first real encounter with the wilderness occurred in 1878, as a teenager, in and around what is now Baxter State Park and the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in Maine. That formative experience with Maine guides Bill Sewall and Wilmot Dow developed his life-long appreciation for nature and the outdoors, which he later acknowledged in an essay written in 1918 entitled My Debt to Maine. He even hired Sewall and Dow to build and run his favorite ranch, Elkhorn, in North Dakota.

Thanks for the history lessons, and hats off to the former presidents, especially Roosevelt.

Your two shots are stunning. The second is amazing. The composition just adds to the depth and grandeur! You also provided an interesting bit of history that has great impact today.
