I went on a hike in the local mountains, mostly trying Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography. I experimented with various subjects to try to get a better grip on what works and what doesn't.
In this series, I first show the bushes, moss and flowers that were the subject, and then show what I obtained. I used a 6-stop ND filter with a 3.2" exposure and a 24-105 lens. I zoomed in discrete steps (not continuously) and did this handheld. I like the effect of the movement of the camera during the exposures to give a less regular pattern, especially observable in the center of images 2,3 and 4. I processed in Lightroom, using basic sliders and used the HSL color picker to enhance colors. Comments and critiques welcome.
Fascinating effects! I'm going to look at the online info and YouTube videos about this topic.
It is addicting. The thing I like the most is that the results are almost always surprising. And you can get wild images from the most mundane subjects. The results are absolutely unique and your own. It would be very hard to duplicate any particular image. Great fun!
Old trick from film days - nostalgia!
Very nice. It's an interesting technique that I think you do well. The first three, in my opinion, are the best.
Thanks. Yes, the first 3 are my favorites also, because they are less regular.
