Some shots taken with the D4 and others D500. Nice sunny day, about 85. Auto iso auto wb. 1/2500 at 5.6 to 1/4000 at 5.6
Nice action....good work again!
Jules the second and third images are absolutely epic!
Both are iconic pose dynamics of America's "National Sport".
Catching this pitcher at the peak of his windup is the stuff that Sports Illustrated covers are made of!
Both of these images belong in your Professional Portfolio... hands down...
And once again I learn from your skillful savvy in sports photography...
These images are so similar yet were taken with completely difference pieces of kit.
The second image with the awesome Nikon D4 in combo with the ever popular AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6 ED VR
At maximum FL of 500mm and 1/6400 wide open at f/5.6 and ISO 560... Funny how amazing Nikon's Auto ISO is here... nailing exposure exactly at what should be used according to the incredibly accurate "Sunny 16 Rule"... which has withstood the test of time and remains as a baseline for exposure on as you stated " Nice sunny day".
While in the third image you used Nikon's premier Sport & Wildlife camera the only Pro build DX camera in it's current offerings... The Nikon D500 in combo with a Pro build AF-S 80-400mm f/4.6-5.6 at 200mm; 1/3200; f/6.3 ISO 360.
While both images are stunning there are subtle differences in subject isolation if favor of the FX variant (in my humble estimation). Albeit it's really apples to oranges here... the acuity of each is publication quality however most importantly is the composition... In the third image it is the fierce concentration seen in this pitcher's eyes that take that image entirely over the top...
Something that likely is heavily influenced by your deep appreciation of the sport having played it... For this there is no substitute...
Please keep shooting and post Jules... I grow my knowledge of sports photography with each and every one of your posts...
All the best...
