This is something I did years ago when I had time on my hands for experimenting both with folds ( as I called them ) and later with triptychs and then the idea of including the matting effect in the printing process. When I was experimenting with the fold's, I was struck by the puddles in the correct orientation, looking like concave recesses when inverted. In fact it reversed the topography in the upper half. The sand was shot at Popham Beach State Park, where the sand reconfigured with each tide.

This is a reduced version. The thing is when you fold a photo, it is four times the original size, so they get big. I printed it small on my home printer, not yet on a large format printer. You can't print everything :)

...OK. I was curious of the size you would display at. I can print 16x24 and would definitely make *that* a piece!

I am particularly drawn to the intricate patterns in nature. Some are very fleeting, as with sand or ice. On the coast of Connecticut the sand on the beaches is particularly unattractive so I shoot mostly ice here.
During a visit to Encinitas many years ago I was the one person on the beach looking down. I was beguiled by the sand there. A couple more shots. A wider shot at Popham. Before the foot prints arrived. Several sand shots from California. I appreciate your interest Bob.

I have not had any problem printing at 40x60 so I don't think of size as being a restriction. I should print this one since I have never printed one with the matt, as part of the print.
