I am rather fond of this particular location. It is a particularly beautiful and majestic place. The valley shown is the the headwaters of the North Platte River, behind me and just up the hill is the origins of the Laramie River and just over the ridge to the left is the headwaters of the Colorado River. Unfortunately, last summer much the beautiful area just east of this location was ravaged by Cameron Peak forest fire.

Really nice b&w treatment, particularly the tonalities in the mountains! Also, the subject matter does not hurt, either!

The devastation of fires is a very sad thing. This is an amazing spot! I'm sure your are glad to have before shots to remember it by. This is a great landscape shot!

Thanks Tommy, The contrasty nature of high mountain photography make the dark greens of the trees a bit tricky but I decided to sacrifice some detail in the darks. I noticed a calibrated high end monitor handle it just fine but my second less capable monitor not so much.

I am glad you enjoyed it. When I look at it I remember when I would have climbed the ridge-line to see the view from there....sigh.

Cameron Peak fire did a lot of damage, but it will come back with time. Many of us older photographers are going to be too old to see it come back strong, but the new growth in four or five years will made it beautiful again.

Indeed, change good and bad are a staple of life. Taking it in stride and hoping for the future, even if we will not personally see that future, can give some peace when the change is not to our liking. Thanks for stopping by.

Very impressive photo at a ridge where great rivers begin. Are we looking at Longs Peak in RMNP ???
