Your photos show a very inviting small town (small city?). The movie theater showing “Cheaper By The Dozen” could have been from the 1950s as I think that’s when the book was written.

Thank you, Ellen! Actually it isn’t a movie theater. It is for stage plays. We went there for a performance just before Christmas two years ago.

Just over a week ago we took the four hour drive to Thomasville, Georgia, to visit family and also to attend the 100th Anniversary Rose Festival. The Rose Festival is one of many special events that Thomasville offers. Last year the festival was cancelled and this year Covid still had an effect. The events were smaller and designed to create less crowded situations. Also, the weather was very bad. It rained some Friday and then most of the day on Saturday with tornado warnings on Saturday. In spite of it all, it was a worth while trip and we really enjoyed our time there. I managed to shoot well over 200 frames. It was our first trip in over a year!

This first post has little to do with the Rose Festival. It is just shots of some of the scenes around town. Most of these shots were from Friday evening when the streets were closed to traffic so people could stroll and see the displays. The downtown streets are a great place to walk around and see familiar faces. There are many quaint and unique shops. Thomasville is truly a lovely little city!

Small town Georgia still exists - the town square, the county courthouse, the assorted shops and some nice to good restaurants.

You did a good job of depicting Thomasville. It has changed very little in the last 20-30 years. Come to Georgia, outside of the Atlanta metroplex, to see a moment-in-time captured again and again in the homes, buildings and hearts of these rural Georgians. It can be great post-Covid fun. (And visit nearby state parks for even more fun.)

Thank you, Paul. I appreciate your insight. Georgia seems like a whole different world than Florida. Life seems a little slower and quieter up there. Thomasville is a very good example. There are many beautiful older homes and, as you see, downtown is relaxed and charming.
