Mike,

Smart cars were abundant in 2006, when I visited France & Italy.

Occasionally, I do too! I think they are cool, but I would not drive one on any highway.

I wouldn't either.

#4 is a BMW Isetta, first one of those I ever saw was in Fairbanks, Alaska back in the early '60s. Took it for a drive, interesting car. Saw my first XKE, Jag sedan, Porsche , Triumph, Mg's, Healys all kinds, Abarth, Mercedes, most of the common other European cars there. It was kind of strange as there was no place to go. 11 miles of black top out the Steese hiway, 4 miles out to the U of A couple of miles to the airport or drive to Anchorage. Interesting cars.

Thank you very very much.

First 2 look like "Messerschmitt" Cars, ( They were 3 wheels with motor behind driver. A professor at college had one he drove for years.

Thanks for the memories Mike - I actually rode in one of these when I was young - the 3 wheeler in the last pic. Driven by my friend we went into town where we found a very tight parking spot into which we backed with barely 6" clearance either end. I think it was the only car in the world which would have fitted in there. Memory says it was very noisy and rough to ride in. I think it had a single cylinder 2 stroke motor bike engine. Cheers JohnR
