Managed to get a Morris Rosenfeld original of the Vanitie at an auction. Now that I have it and looked at it I have some questions that maybe someone could answer. All the copies I see on line that have sold in auctions in the past all list the size as 16 X 20 and mine is 17 x 20 and I can see in the photos of the other prints that I have more on both sides, so my print is closer to using the full negative and the others all are cropped a little to fit the 16 x 20. The other thing is that the others all have marks from the studio and serial numbers. I have not taken mine out of the frame yet but there are no marks on the front of the mat. I'm wondering if this might be the original print from the negative that might of gone to the owner of the yacht or at least an earlier print since once they started printing stamped and serial numbered prints they are 16 x 20 and I can't imagine that they would later print an unmarked fuller frame print of the shot. I'm I on to something.

At the Bonhams auction link above you can partially make out the "signature" on the print, in the lower right hand corner.
If yours is an odd size, doesn't have serial # and doesn't have that signature it's possible it's an artist's proof. Those are often done in the earliest printing stage to check the process and make adjustments before the actual print run. Sometimes artist's proofs end up getting framed and sold, too.... though it's rare. They are supposed to be destroyed.
I was the editor of MotorBoating & Sailing magazine in the 80's. The magazine had a large collection of Rosenfeld photos dating back decades. We donated them to the Rosenfeld collection. To answer your question, as best I remember all of the pictures were dated and numbered. Stanley Rosenfeld who was a frequent visitor to the office and a friend continued the I.D. system.
I cannot attest to the originality of your photograph. I suggest you seek out the curator of the photography collection at Mystic Seaport. Here is the URL which will get you the contact form:
