Alsaka Pipeline in Depth Part 2

All of these photos were taken with a great little Canon G5.

The pipeline is extremely well maintained and constantly patrolled.
Each junction of the pipe is supported on slides so that in the event of an earthquake, the mounts can move with little effect to the pipe itself.
Some of you might enjoy the details.

I'm sure it's completely safe - what could happen.

several years ago I was in Alaska and traveled along the pipeline .... I was told by a guide that they had several incidents where people shot at the line and hit it ... but there is another problem ... the supports are built on permafrost .... the ground permafrost is softening .... is an environmental disaster in the future ?????????????:::::

Nice photos of the pipeline.

I shall refrain from commenting about the function of the pipeline itself because I don’t want to irritate half of you. You can probably guess which half if you have been following my comments for a long time now.

Looks like lots of incidents in Texas, but according to the Texas Railroad Commission, there were 479,798 miles of pipeline in TX. Just imagine the number of incidents if all those petroleum products were transported by truck or rail.
