Excellent photo of a horrible bird
Very conservative coloring but still a pretty bird. They do have some unpleasant habits but nature is like that sometimes. Nice shots, Joe.

Googled...similar habit to the Cuckoo which also lays eggs in other species' nest.
The difference is that the Cuckoo hatchling will kill the other bird's young or just push them or the other eggs out of the nest, insuring that they will get plenty to eat. The female Cuckoo can also lay eggs that resemble the other bird's eggs and she too may push eggs out of the nest to hide the fact that there is an extra egg as well as insuring her offspring will get plenty to eat.
The Cuckoo is much larger than you would expect given their depictions in the clocks.
The roadrunner is actually a variety of ground Cuckoo...who knew.
These birds dominate my window-mounted feeder during spring and fall migration. And they sure donβt like to share the space!
