Look at the vest by cotton carrier
My thoughts for what they are worth.....
I've been a full time photographer for 45+ years.... and have worked with a group of shooters (approximately 65) every week in the high volume high school photo business. My suggestion is never mount a strap to the bottom of the camera body. (Unless it's a light weight lens AND NO vertical/battery grip) I have seen numerious times where the ¼ 20 screw hole on the bottom of the vertical/battery grip pull out causing major damage. And what's wrong with the Nikon straps ? Other than the yellow advertising.... perhaps I a bit cheap..? but I do own most top of the line bodies and lenses Nikon offers... the Nikon trinity plus others. I just place a camera on both shoulders and if need one around the neck (a short light weight one there) years ago the neck strapped camera was a Leica with a 24mm.
One more thought.... most shooters don't even have there camera straps mounted/woven correctly.... RTFM... look at the diagram on how the loop the strap on the camera. Saw many cameras fall to the ground...
When I use my 200-500mm lens it's on a monopod, tripod gimbo or hand held. I never strapped the lens and body.. to much pressure on the lens mount for me. IMO
PS. The strap costing $50-$100 can fill up the gas tank or the date and our tummy's very nicely at a restaurant.
Oz.

For a while at least. I just pulled the trigger and bought a Nikkor 200-500 direct from Nikon. I will need a shoulder strap. The lens will be mounted on a D7200. Suggestions for a reasonably priced strap would be appreciated.
I really try to avoid using a strap to CARRY a large lens/camera - although I would have a strap attached as a tether/protection. For carrying on longer hikes, I prefer to CARRY the lens/camera in a soft case attached to my body by a neck strap and belt.
If I were to try and CARRY a large lens/camera outside of a soft case for any distance I think I would use a fish fighting harness like this -

Everyone has their favorites. I use Black Rapid straps.
Another vote for black rapid, believe I have the sport model.
Btw, you may be attaching the strap to the lens, not the lighter camera at least that is how it works for me. I have a ring by black rapid that screws in the mounting bracket on the lens or camera. Using on the lens bracket seems to balance nicely with my D750 and Tamron 150-600. In my mind there was a lot of stress on the camera connecting it to the strap with that heavy lens and the balance seemed poor. This is just what worked for mother’s May feel differently.

When using a big, heavy lens on a camera you may want to consider attaching a strap to the lens rather than the camera body.
And don’t “quit bothering us”. Questions are what keep UHH going.
I also agree that the strap should be attached to the tripod collar foot on the lens. I use a Black Rapid Sport strap with a quick release clamp I added to it. This assumes that the lens has a Arca Swiss lens plate on its foot. Something like this shown at the end of the link:

So... call me cheap and penny wise/pound foolish. However, I’ve been a dedicated fan of Optech straps and slings for years. They’re flexible, strong, and the neoprene seems to take load off (maybe not a lot but it all counts). I’ve never had a clip fail and if I ever get paranoid about it, Optech sells some nifty little Velcro straps that prevent the clips from separating. If I want to from a full strap to a handhold, off comes the shoulder strap and a simple hand strap connects to one side of the body and I’m off to the races. And they all sell between $10-$30, even tho I’ve never needed the latter. Even the sling strap was only $27 or so.
OpTech straps are great. I use two of them all the time for cameras, not cameras with large telephoto lenses. They do make a specialized loop attachment that fits around the lens barrel near the camera mount, but I never felt comfortable with that approach for a large tele.

I really like the Peak Design Sling. There are many out there, but I have settled on this one.

You will get a number of suggestions/recommendations. Here's mine: Peak Design Sling Strap. I like the way it connects to the camera and I like how easy it is to adjust. It can be worn around the neck or across either shoulder. Very versatile and reasonably comfortable.
I use Peak Design also, sling and grip.
Go 2 ebay & see what strap goes with D7200?

My Sigma "BigMa" 50-500mm has a neck strap on the tripod mount. This is ever so handy because when I carry the camera I have both the camera strap and the lens strap around my neck and the lens strap keeps the lens from swaying as I walk. It also adds a level of protection should the camera strap fail or slip off me in some way.
I would far rather have the Nikon lens like you are getting than this Sigma and I am eager to see the posts of your work with it.

I use OOP/TECH it's made in the USA, they have a quick release system, they also harness that allows you to carry two cameras
