I had the excitement yesterday of coming close to this beautiful Bobcat at Sweetwater Wetlands. This is a animal preserve at a Tucson Water Reclamation plant.

the cat walked slowly past me and ambled on, not at all shy. I first kept my distance, but later got up the nerve to walk right behind it. Then after catching a mouse, the cat crawled behind some bushes to wash up.

I was probably 15 - 20 feet away. Apparently there is a family of these living at Sweetwater.
But my first close encounter.

Hope you enjoy these.

A beautiful animal who looks pretty relaxed in your presence. I used to see bobcats occasionally in my mom's yard on the southwest side of Tucson. It was always a gift.

Wonderful! There was a report last week of the bobcat count in Illinois is growing. A report that caught my attention with the growing frequency of bobcats here on UHH. Without proof, I'd never imagine a wild one have a sense of security to allow shots anywhere near this close.

Thanks.....
I was surprised. I talked with an employee there, who reported that the family is very used to seeing people there, and don't get bothered .
I was excited/nervous at first, but I got more comfortable.

Even though we have them where I live I have never seen one but I sure would love to. I know your heart was racing with excitement and you got some good shots of it.

Thanks Jerry. You are quite correct. But I my excitement outweighed my fear.

Hopefully you will get the opportunity soon.
