Amphibious car on Saguaro Lake in Arizona.
Seen this car driving down the road when driving to lake for boat tour on the lake while vacationing in Arizona.
I remember those cars. What a blast. Wish I would have lucked onto one.
Great capture.
I wanted one of those so badly as a kid. My Dad, much smarter than I, just laughed. I never thought about leaks and rust that would plague Amphicars over the years. Now, if you restored one and were careful and limited in yer usage...well, I still think they are as cool as ever. I saw one last in Paris, about 2 years ago.
Thanks for sharing.
They were a cool novelty, though neither a particularly good car or boat. Takes me back!

Nice catch!
I remember seeing them at the boat ramp at the local lake in the 60's.
President LBJ has one and it is on display out at his ranch outside Johnson City, Texas.

Saw one once at Lake of the Ozarks. Thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Regarding the Amphicar:
Imagine if they had made an aluminum body and parts where possible and some better work with gaskets. We’d all have one today!

on a lake?
Lake Superior Yes.
On any lake. All it takes are a couple of large power boat wakes. There’s no positive flotation in an Amphibicar like there is in a boat, and not much freeboard.
Re: Amphicar
Can’t we all just enjoy the novelty and oddity of the vehicle. It being cool doesn’t mean that the design had to be as great as the concept, does it? Just enjoy.
