I'm always tempted by offerings to update my photo software at the Upgrade price. Tomorrow is the last day to get the lower prices for On1. They are at the stage where you can buy the program outright for $100 (upgrade for $80) or subscribe for $108 annually. They must have spent some time working out the numbers for that. Another reason I'm tempted to buy is that I can buy it outright - now. Next year it could be by subscription, only. I just checked, and my newest On1 is from 2018, bought in 2019.

So, any opinions on the 201.5 version? I'll have to take my own advice and look for reviews.

I use ON1 and am interested in this discussion. I enjoy ON1, although it occasionally crashes and must be rebooted.

Is that the newer "RAW" version?

Yes, I just downloaded the new version. I haven't used it yet.

I have the newest version. I really like it. I have kept all the older versions, too. All the way back to 2018. Vast improvements over this time. There is not much it won't do at this point.

Today I tried to use the latest version of ON1 for the first time. As soon as I move a slider in the Tone and Color module, the program crashes. This has happened 4 times.

I like the way ON1 works, but the program has had its quirks and instabilities since the first version I purchased. I am told on UHH that this program is someone experimental and has a history of this sort of problem.

I have a deadline on editing some photos and am probably going to move back into Lightroom.

I suspect that my problem is an incompatibility between the latest version of ON1 and the latest version of Big Sur which I downloaded to my computer yesterday.

I seem to have hijacked this discussion, for which I apologize.

ON1 sent me instructions to uninstall the current update and then do a complete, clean reinstall. I do not have the technical skills to follow the instructions. There are some problems between ON1 and Big Sur. I need a more dependable software and have decided to move back to Lightroom.

I’ve owned every version of ON1 PR since 2018. And... have experience every known nuisance, I think. I have found that the most reliable installation method (for Windows installs) is to exit all other running programs, disable security (especially deep running anti-virus programs like Norton or McAfee), and run the installer as an Administrator. Then restore the security stuff.

FWIW ON1 2021.5 runs fine under Big Sur on my mid-2014 MacBook Pro (2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor with 16 GB RAM).

My Mac is from 2012, and Apple said I'm through with updates. I forget which version I have, but it's the last one that I can use.
