Is Robin a German Short Haired Pointer?
My dad had one. We don't have quail in our area but do have fuffed grouse. Unfortunately they don't hold with a dog on point but we still had a good partnership. He was also great on woodcock but would not retrieve them. Still he would find them and stand over them until I came and picked them up.

Thanks,Brian.Robin is a GSP and points and retrieves all upland gamebirds,particularly pheasant,quail and partridge.
