I have found that Tamron is about to begin selling a re-designed Sp90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD, model F004 lens. I spoke to a Tamron rep this morning, and she said they should be shipping in mid November. Pricing will be made when the lens ships. My question is has any of the camera people on this site have had the opportunity to review the lens. I am thinking it will be priced between their current 90mm Macro, and the Canon 100mm L lens. Or, about $700-$750. (the VC, means Vibration Control)
First I have heard of new lens. Keep us informed. Ask rep if you can trial the lens for review and evaluation for UHH.
Take a moment and look at the Tokina 100mm for cannon around $490 if your in the market for a Good Macro Lens. Extremely sharp but no VR. Use flash for Camera shake anyway.
i think the difference between the old one and new one is a focus motor and VC.neither one is worth the extra money to me since i dont use either.tom
I'm curious to see how it performs. It's not the Voigtlander 125mm macro planar that I dream about but I do like the old Tamrons and VC would be a plus.
There's just too many options out there.....
I first read about the lens on the Tamron website, in the news section. It was announced in September. Today, 10/10/12 there was a Tamron Day, at Bennetts Camera, in Metairie, La. Tamron only sent sales people, no teckkies. But I did talk to the rep about the new lens. I think Tamron glass can be as good quality as Canon L lenses. I'm not saying all, but many. I'll keep the HHG posted on the lens.
