going from LV to Capitol Reef, to Canyonlands, to Arches, to Natural Bridges NM, to Hovenweep NM, down to Monument Valley, back to LV ( haven't been there in 45 years, and at age of 74, not going back ); taking my new FujiGFX100s; I have the 32-64 zoom, contemplating buying the 100-200 zoom to take, also.

Any suggestions as to the shooting locations, and any information / suggestions anyone who has used the GFX100s might have will be appreciated.

Can't help you with the camera and lens but can give you some useful information about your trip. Recently went to Canyonlands and Arches and absoutely loved Arches. Not so much Canyonlands but it was also nice. The town of Moab (next to both parks) is loaded with reasonable lodging and a variety of good restaurants. It's only minutes away from the parks so very convenient.

I recommend you check out gypsyguides.com. It has audible guides for both parks that are very inexpensive and can be downloaded so no reception issues. It is GPS based so it is like having a guide in your car with you and always knows where you are so you can start/stop whenever you choose. Very informative and enjoyable.

If you have no physical limitations I recommend you do the "Park Avenue" hike. It isn't long and not terribly difficult - I'm 73 and have bad knees and was able to do it without much trouble. Beautiful and great photo ops. A walking stick is helpful and highly recommended.

Your 32-64 zoom is kinda limiting for landscapes so, yea, something longer would be useful. 100-200 would be good but something even longer would be nice too. I carried a 24-120 and 70-300 which pretty much met all my needs.

Have a great trip!

If it was me, I would skip Hovenweap unless you are in to that kind of thing. I would take the time going to and from that place and spend in it the other places which are much more photogenic. Just my opinion.

Monument Valley as well as all Navajo tribal parks remain closed because of the pandemic. The road (Route 163) leading to the park is open. I have no idea when the tribal parks will reopen.

If you do go to Page, AZ, be sure to stop by Horseshoe Canyon. Enjoy your trip. Too bad Monument Valley is closed.

4 Corners and Monument Valley were closed last August when I went there. Still, we drove through the Painted Desert area, parked outside the gate of 4 corners, took photos of the signs and "talked" a 360 video showing the 4 states, ran on the "Forrest Gump" hill with Monument Valley in the background, and visited/stayed in Mexican Hat.

Last I read was that Monument Valley was closed due to high Covid cases among natives.

There have been some recent posts by Jedrick regarding his trip through the Cathedral Valley portion of Capital Reef NP. If you are adventurous and driving a capable all-wheel drive vehicle, the Cathedral Valley loop is worth your consideration. There are fabulous red rock cliffs and giant sandstone monoliths rising from the desert floor. Cathedral Valley is at the pinnacle of my top ten list of locations I have photographed. But you need a reliable vehicle that can handle reasonably rough roads. It is not a well traveled loop. You may not see another vehicle for hours. But it is a day long drive you will never forget. Regarding lenses, I would want to be able to cover a range between 24mm and 200mm. I plan to go there again this fall and believe my 24x70mm and 70x200mm lenses will likely be all I will need.

Some National Parks are now requiring passes/ticket reservations to even drive through a park. Glacier for example. They initiated this due to higher visitation. I don’t recall if any that you plan to visit are on this list but it would be good to check out ahead of time. We plan a September/October Utah visit.

I spent five days in southern Utah a couple of years ago and would like to have spent 20 more. That's were many black-and-white westerns, including Gunsmoke, were filmed. Incredible scenery and hundreds of thousands of acres in the nearby national parks, national monuments and land owned by the Bureau of Land Management. Base of operations for day trips was the little town of Kanab. Quaint (and cheap) motel where the movie stars stayed while filming.

There is Goblin Valley State Park just north of Hanksville, Ut; the Burr Trail out of Boulder, UT to the back side of Capitol Reef about 11 miles from Boulder is a small slot canyon and easy walk-in. Southern Utah is worth many day of wandering.
