Are you old enough to remember Salisbury "steak"? I can remember when it was a staple of every diner and most home kitchens. Pantry was bare last night. I had ground meat, mushrooms, onions, and noodles --> hence, Salisbury steak. It brought back some memories. Yum!
I remember and I’m sure it was yummy. No picture of yours?

Yes Yummy. Any leftovers for me?
We still have it every so often.
With mashed potatoes. Tastes good.
In a pinch, Stouffers makes it decently.
Oh, yeah, I remember it well. Some cafeterias still serve it. The secret is in the gravy.

Seems to me my mother made it with round steak, pounded fairly thin, served with gravey and onions, often with mashed potatoes - a brown meal. My mother went to college majoring in “home economics”, before lab tech school, and having grown up on a large farm as well, she could REALLY cook. She died at age 98, and was still making great meals until almost the end of her life.
I grew up on salisbury steaks.
What about a Moon pie and RC cola for dessert..?
My wife still makes it but we just don't call it that anymore.
The best Salisbury steak I can remember eating was made by my daughter; who is a caring, meticulous cook. She also holds a PhD in anthropology.

Funny you should bring up Salisbury Steak. Hubby reminded me last night that it's one of his favorites, but that I haven't made it "in ages!" Hmmm, maybe this week I'll make him a "Salisbury Steak Surprise".

As I recall a Salisbury Steak ? Cubed Steak was a tough gristly piece of beer run through a "Cuber" a machine that more or less chopped the meat but left some of the sinew intact, I remember my mother cooking them with brown gravy and onions this was the closest to a real steak I came until I was out on my own, I still prepare ground beef the same way!!!
I still see cubed steak in the cooler at the market.
That and Turkey were, undoubtedly, were the biggest sellers in the TV Dinner (Swanson's) line. I had a lot of them back in the day.

I prefer my “beer” in a liquid form🤪
My favorite local restaurant doesn’t have it on the menu but will make it on request. Gravy, onions, mushrooms , double side of mashed potatoes....heavenly🤪
Yes, I remember it well - even the TV Dinner version.
