At 0550 just before sunrise this morning, a SpaceX Falcon 9 with the Dragon crewed capsule lifted off from Cape Canaveral heading to the ISS....an absolutely flawless and beautiful launch. This was taken about 45 miles away in Wabasso, FL along the Indian River Lagoon about 20 miles south of Melbourne (180 second exposure). Another glorious morning to be had...Cheers, download is recommended.

Awesome...but I’m not so sure I would do this at the low end of the pay scale...
... Astronauts' annual salaries are determined using a government pay scale, and starting out, typically fall under two grades: GS-12 and GS-13. According the US government's 2020 pay scales and a NASA job listing, a civilian astronaut in 2020 can earn between $66,167 and $161,141 per year.

I've only seen one launch (STS 105?) several years ago while visiting my parents. We got up at like 2 AM to drive from Venice to the Cape for a dawn launch. Afterwards we went to the museum. Long day, but worth it. I have one pic on my FB page (scanned pano print) and a video I took and edited with newspaper articles and such. I'd love to go to Space Camp someday. Maybe after I retire I'll have the money and time to do it.
