Easter Cactus ( Echinopsis) blooms almost on time for Easter, a bit late this year
Ive had this cactus for about 10 years. Always has bloomed one time a year, normally March April time frame. (hence the name Easter Cactus)
Last year it bloomed at least 6 different times starting in Feb… sometimes with 5 flowers at one time and other times only one flower.
one flower appeared last night….and I can count 8 more stalks coming up….
It takes about 7 days for the stalk to grow and it blooms ONLY AT NIGHT, around midnight and last only ONE day
Beautiful work, Black Horse!
Beautiful flower. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful blossom, Sumo! Is that all one plant with one root system? How did it start ten years ago?
Thanks for posting this!

That big looking spiney ball in the center was originally a small ball about two inches wide and two inches tall. That was all there was at the start. My wife has removed a number of the balls or babies has she calls them and replanted them. Gave them away. Ironic my daughter got one that has expanded to about 6 balls and she got a flower last night also
I've never seen one of these. Nice image! Since you know that it blooms at midnight, it would be interesting to set up a camera and do a timelapse of the bloom opening.
