I went out Sunday on a photoshoot with my Nikon Z6. I took one picture and when I went to click the shutter again it went to timer mode. I had to have accidentally pushed the timer button on the bottom right. It now will not come out of the timer mode. I have taken out the battery, tried holding down the timer button while scrolling with the master button to change the setting (which changes the setting) but it still will not come out of timer mode.
I appreciated any and all help you can give me. I’ve been off of my feet due to elbow surgery and this was my first time back since the beginning of the year. Fortunately I had another camera with me and had a nice day out in the mountains of western N.C.
I'd suggest a reset to the factory defaults. Should be in the owners manual. I don't have a Z6, I have a D7200 and its in the D7200 manual.

I dread doing that but think it is the best idea. Thanks!
Is the battery power low?
From Nikon:
If the battery is exhausted while images remain in the buffer, the shutter release will be disabled and the images transferred to the memory card.

This is not difficult to do. Press the 'I' button and then press the 'Frame Rate" button and select the frame rate with the command dial. "Timer' is one of the selections. These buttons are on the back of the camera. The 'I' button is hard to miss and the 'Frame Rate' button is directly underneath the 'Menu' button. Easy as pie! Best of luck. P.S. - The camera must be powered ON!

Thanks so much. I will try this and report back.
Why not call Nikon or your dealer?

You solved my issue! I cannot thank you enough!
Took a bit to be able to work on it. My husband had a tragic fall here on our property and had to have spinal surgery. Then when he started PT before he had his 3rd visit he caught Covid from someone at PT. It has been a trying year.
I’ve finally been able to play with this. Your help is so appreciated.
